Cotton is the most important natural fibre produced in the world.
It is a natural textile fibre such as wool, silk and linen. This fiber has several properties that make its use so widespread: it absorbs moisture and expels body heat, dyes well, does not generate static electricity, is insulating and withstands high temperatures.
Cotton has its pros and cons:
Pros
- Light, resistant and washable yarns.
- The longer the yarns are the less pilling and breaking they are.
- Does not charge static electricity.
Cons
- It shrinks if we don't apply special treatments such as sanforizing.
- Moulds due to excess humidity.
- Suffers from sun damage if it's not dyed properly.
